Chris Masters - A Cowardly Act!

Alan Jones

Disgusted! Outraged! My immediate response to the article in the Sydney Morning Herald entitled, "Demons That Drive Alan Jones". This, the first of a three-part review of Chris Masters' biased biography on Australia's top broadcaster, is nothing less than a vicious, evil and cowardly campaign to 'out' Jones. From the start, it seems clear that Jones' purported sexuality is to be used against him.

Jones may have made some enemies along his remarkable route to success, but it is true to say that he has earned many more friends, tremendous and wide-ranging support, and respect for championing the causes for many Australians. Most recently, Jones took up the battle for elderly and ill war veterans, who were to be moved out of their unit complex in Sydney, so that the property could be sold. After taking a pounding from Jones, the Federal Veterans Affairs Minister, Bruce Billson, and the Federal Government finally gave in, and offered an interest-free loan so that those veterans wanting to stay in the units could do so.

Why has Masters embarked on such a crusade? To bring Jones down? ... it appears so, given its viciousness. There is little doubt that Masters and Jones' don't hold the same political views. Instead of taking Jones to task on issues that he and Masters may disagree about, however, Masters has resorted to "playing the man" by focusing on Jones' supposed private sexuality, and to exposing this under the guise of a biography. This is Masters' cowardly weapon of choice. Who knows if supporters of the left-wing Evatt Foundation (a group who suggest they stand for human rights) had a role to play?

I don't understand why certain members of the media feel they have the right to make allegations about something as private as an individual's sexual orientation. Whether Jones is heterosexual, bisexual or homosexual, has nothing to do with anyone else, unless any act happens to be an infringement of our laws and has a direct bearing on the safety of someone else.

It is bizarre and sickening that an RMIT University article on the Internet, uses this finger-down-your-throat description of Masters: "fits the stereotype of the noble investigative journalist". Rubbish! Masters' book, as reflected in the Herald extracts, is hardly noble investigative journalism. It is gutter journalism at best!

Masters is not the only one who needs to be taken to task here. David Marr, known for his effeminate, pretentious style, is another arrogant left-wing journalist, who has contributed to the attack on Jones. Then there's Alan Oakley, Editor of The Sydney Morning Herald. Of course, one cannot forget the publishers of the book 'Jonestown', Allen & Unwin. Patrick Gallagher is their Executive Chairman and Publishing Director, while Paul Donovan is the Managing Director. They are all tied to an unethical, sick attempt to 'out' what they believe is Jones' sexual preference. This IS wrong, and now surely makes them fair game too.

Oh yes, Chris Masters is married. His wife "has been a terrific support" to him. I would guess she never considered telling her husband that he was stepping over the line. She's a psychologist, and should fully understand the ramifications of her husband's actions. Tell you what, if I ever needed a counsellor I would give her a wide berth.

Regardless of how l feel, there is probably little that will repair the damage done by this despicable act. Perhaps it is time that these 'gutter journalists' had something about them revealed. What skeletons do Masters, Marr and Oakley have in their closet? While I am vehemently opposed to what has occurred, I wonder how Masters, Marr, and Oakley would handle their private lives coming under the same degree of scrutiny.

I'll probably read 'Jonestown' at some point; I'm only likely to 'borrow' the book from a bookshop and then return it, because I sure-as-hell would never give this abhorrent creep, Masters, the pleasure of earning one cent from me.

I don't know Jones personally, and I'm not always in agreement with him, but he sure DOESN'T deserve this. Shame on you, Masters!

Note: Over a week ago, I emailed my views to another blogger, 'Modia Minotaur', in relation to an article he wrote about Alan Jones' biography being scrapped. My comments were in direct opposition to three comments that "Modia Minotaur' allowed to be posted on his blog here. My comments have not been published, while he allowed the three comments referring to Alan Jones being 'homosexual' to remain posted on his blog. My question is, where is the balance? Obviously none, and obviously because 'Modia Minotaur' thinks it's okay to ridicule someone because of what they perceive may be someone's sexuality.
Addition 15/12/2006: My comments have now been added to the others.

Here's a brilliant piece of writing by Michael Kiely. If you don't read anything else, read this.

Addition:(1/12/2006) While my political leanings are not to the left, I was glad to see MrLefty felt the same. I am only too happy to link to someone who, in this instance, is sensible.

Abusing "Set Down" Area at Public Hospital

There are some nasty, self-serving, and arrogant individuals in the world.
Of the worst type would include those who take parking reserved for the disabled, push in front of others, or who park in set down areas for extended periods of time.

Yesterday (Monday 16th October), I arrived at St Vincent's Public Hospital in Darlinghurst at 11:07 am.

The stopping area in front of the main entrance is reserved for picking up and setting down patients only.
I noticed how busy this area was with cars, and that some of them had parked, with their drivers nowhere in sight. I assumed that they may have popped into the reception area to assist someone coming out. Still, this irked me, because this is not what the area is for.

The sign in front clearly states, "PICK UP AND SET DOWN ONLY - NO WAITING".
There is an underground car park. It's admittedly very expensive, but it is the correct place to use when needing to remain at the hospital for any length of time. The alternative is street parking.

I took particular notice of a few of the vehicles that were there, and went inside.

To my absolute astonishment, two of these cars were in the same position when I came out of the hospital at 11:30. I couldn't believe that anyone would be so selfish as to deliberately park there for at least over half an hour. These cars were still empty - no driver, no passenger.

So, I returned into the building and informed a security officer of what was happening. His answer was that he would go outside with his ticket pad, and book the offenders.

Then, I walked outside and started to take a few photos of these cars with my mobile phone. I waited around for another ten or so minutes and had a smoko away from the buiding, expecting to see the security officer attend to the matter.
Well, nothing happened, so I phoned the hospital and told the security officer that nothing had been done as yet. He and his colleagues had been handling other issues, but were about to deal with my complaint.

At that instant, the driver of the grey Toyota (ZHF-294) walked towards her car and unlocked it. I couldn't help myself, and had to point the camera lens at her, and click. Oh yeah, there was no passenger. She drove off on her own. Rather than find appropriate parking, this middle-aged, greyish blonde-haired woman in a black dress, had defied the rules by stopping right in front of the hospital, and leaving her vehicle there for at least 40 minutes.
How disgusting! She placed her own needs above those of patients, ambulances and taxis, who are only allowed to stop there momentarily.
What makes it worse is that this galah, like the other transgressors, thinks that she can get away with it. She did, this time. Her car departed before the security officers arrived; but the photos I have identify this horrible woman and her car. There is some kind of notice on the inside of her windscreen. Perhaps it's a "disabled permit", but she certainly did not seem disabled, in fact far from it. In any event, this is not a disabled persons parking area, and over 40 minutes is ridiculous in the extreme.

Then there's the black Audi (NXE-08L). One would expect that someone driving an Audi could afford the underground parking. No! Stuff anyone else. The "I can do anything I want, and certainly park wherever I choose" attitude makes me want to chunder.
Well I've got news for you. You got caught. Not only by my beady-eyed Nokia, but by the security officers, who studied the vehicle and took out their little 'infringements' pad.

To recap, the two vehicles I referred to were:
NXE-08L - Black Audi
ZHF-294 - Grey Toyota

A third vehicle (AOJ-82V - White Mitsubishi), was unattended for at least 10 minutes.

So, take a look if you will. The photographs are appalling, as one would expect from a mobile phone.

Lawsie Attacks Steve Price Over 'Intolerance'

Let me preface my comments by stating, that I think that John Laws is one of the finest broadcasters in the world. I don't agree with everything he says, and I doubt that he's a pleasant person, but anyone only needs to listen to his dynamic voice and presentation style to know why he has become a living legend in radio.
I have the highest admiration for him in this regard.

I caught a moment of Steve Price on 2UE this arvo.
His colleague, John Laws, had lambasted him earlier in the day by referring to Steve as a "bombastic little" something or other, over his views on the 'flag burner' being invited to march in the Anzac Day parade in Sydney next year.
John Laws said he couldn't believe what he was hearing, and said of Steve, "What happened to tolerance?"

Tolerance, John? Quite hypocritical considering it comes from gay-basher Laws. Not that Steve Price isn't a gay-basher. The two of them have been quite open with their vitriol about homosexuals.

What Happened to Nanna - Outline

I can't keep quiet about this saga any longer, and I won't! There is a desperate need to get some of what has happened to my grandmother off my chest. For now, all I can do is provide a sketchy outline.

My Nanna, Martha, spent the last 8 or more years of her life in a nursing home in South Africa, until she passed away in January 2006.

I have become aware that during the last 8 years, there have been improprieties and/or fraudulent withdrawal transactions on my late grandmother's account by another person. She was never made aware of this fact, to protect her from emotional pain. Investigations are now underway to determine what occured, and to prove who was responsible for siphoning all the money from her bank account. I, along with a few family members are already fully aware of who was responsible. Together with my cousin, I will do everything that is possible from across the sea, to bring swift 'justice' to the family member who did this to a dear old lady in a wheelchair.

It has also come to my attention, that an individual is planning a trip from another country to South Africa, to try and obtain information to clear up the matter for the person presumed to be responsible. This, I am led to believe, may include trying to access bank account information. This individual, has done well in financial circles, and could have a promising future. So, I issue a stern reminder to this person...

Only one has legal access to this information, and is using this authority to investigate the theft and fraud. Trust is vital to building ties and winning clients in all business circles. Should you, or any of your contacts, attempt to access any account information, it will be a breach of bank security and considered criminal conduct. You (and/or them) will face prosecution - not a good career move.

Take heed of Neil Diamond's lyrics...

"Now, I don't want to burst your bubble, but you got trouble.
Don't you know the higher the top the longer the drop."

Why am I begining to tell this on the Internet? Because I, like anyone else, have a right to tell my story. This is just the beginning. When I have the proof in my hands, I will name the person responsible, and anyone else who played a part.

One-Sided Political Blogspot

I fully appreciate that there are many points of view with regard to politics, and everything else in general. What astounds me, is that some hold such extreme views that they wouldn't give space to an opposing thought.
Fellow blogger 'modiaminotaur', creates the impression that the blog at modiaminotaur.blogspot.com is primarily devoted to a look at political issues from the standpoint of some kind of journalist or commentator.
The 'promotional tag', for want of a better word, "Trawling the airwaves to spare you the agony!", adds to the overall suggestion that one may get something more than a totally biased view on politics.

We all know that journalists are supposed to be as impartial as possible, by providing a balanced view of news. My lifetime in the broadcasting industry as a presenter and newsreader, helped me understand the great importance of this.

I sure do understand though, that everyone has an opinion, and that they have a right to vocalise this, in whatever form.

My point is that this is not what is implied by Modiaminotaur's 'promotional tag'. It didn't even take a moment to notice that the list of 'Australian Political Links' on the right-hand side, is strictly limited to left-wing politics. The additional Union links proves my claim that this blog is one-sided.
That's okay, but why create an impression that it's not.
